Finalizing The Plans

It's March 27th and we are close to finalizing the overall design/plan of the house build. We have attached a few pictures below to give you an idea of what we are working with right now. You also can click on the Flickr link on the right side of the blog for more pictures of the house planning process.

Our next post in the next week or so (posts will become more frequent starting now) will be some itinerary suggestions for people thinking of coming to assist with the workshops in August. Stay tuned and please contact us at toby@weymiller.com if you seriously interested in joining the workshop(s). See previous two posts for information those workshops. More details on lodging options and workshop specifics are coming soon.

SW (front entrance) side view of the house. To take the best advantage of the views, we are planning on having the bedroom, ofice and "bath" (ofuro) room on the first floor and the kitchen, dining and relaxing areas on the 2nd floor along with 2 outside decks/patios to enjoy the views in the Spring~Fall months.

Front entrance layout of strawbales, windows and log posts. This is very preliminary and needs to be adjusted, but gives you an idea of what we are looking at with the layout.

SE view of the house which has the great view of the Taisetsuzan Mountains (Asahidake, Bieidake, Tokachidake & Furanodake).

This is so wonderful, Toby. Man I wish we were over there to help. It would be so great to be there during this exciting time. One of my colleagues got me to thinking you should contact Dwell magazine to see if they would be interested in doing a story about your "Green Dream" house. I bet they'd love it. How cool would that be! Much love always, ~L.
