A break in the action

On Wednesday, we spent most of the day with our friend, Ronna, who was visiting from Seattle. It was her first trip to Japan and the first 5 days of her "vacation" were spent working on our house. She was treated to some fantastic meals, hot springs and new friendships during those 5 days, tho. ;) Regardless, even though we were dead tired from 6 straight days of hard labor and trying to coordinate a fun & educational workshop, we took the "day off" yesterday and did some fun stuff around Asahikawa. Above is a picture of Maiko walking into the "Beer Garden" near the station and below is a picture of Toby at the Otokoyama Sake Museum.
Side note: one of those big kegs of sake will be cracked open on November 14th at the "Open House" (keep fingers crossed, please).

Anyway, we also visited a recycle/antique/"junk" store, some farm animals at a very mini farm/dentist(don't ask) and sang karaoke as it was Ronna's first time doing so. Good times!!

We were sad to see Ronna go this morning, but we have a feeling that we'll see her again soon. Best wishes and happy travels, Ronna. Enjoy Aomori, Nikko, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima & Tokyo!!
