Searching for Driftwood & Finding Fresh Edamame!

Above, Maiko searches for driftwood on the lake above Chubetsu River Dam (we found a ton at this location and another more remote spot). We plan on using the driftwood in a couple places inside the house and since we haven't been able to do any hiking this summer with the house build, it almost felt like a couple mini hikes. It was a good break from the normal house build stuff. Below, Maiko plucks fresh edamame off about 30 vines that we received from our new neighbor (to be). After taking them home and throwing them in a big pot, we had amazingly fresh edamame with dinner and a few beers. Ummm, ummm good!! うまい!!

Hi,
Just thought I'd let you know how inspirations your project is for the rest of us who would love to live like this some day.
Just as a side note, I thought I should mention this German oven called "Kachelofen" that I came across on the net. Supposedly very energy efficient and takes up very little wood. Couple of small logs would keep you warm the whole day.

Here's a link:

Just trying my bit to add any ideas that you might have not thought about ! Namaste.
