From Nakaton With Love

On our recent trip to Northern Hokkaido, we stayed with Jared & Satomi in Nakatonbetsu. Satomi sent us a few pictures she took from our visit. I'll share them with you all here. Enjoy

This looks amazing! What are those flowers? Were you at a preserve?

From Satomi:

The flowers are called Mizu-basho.
And I think anyone who thinks they are beautiful, myself included, is probably better off
not knowing their English name: skunk cabbage

More from Satomi:

The picture wasn't taken at a preserve, although I hope
to preserve the place as it is. :)
I took it at a field near the house, a week after you came.

Those wild flowers bloom in marshy, shady places
in the spring.
